Temperature effect of granite (Jinan Blue)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The linear expansion coefficient of granite is very low (about <strong>4.5~6 \u00d710\u207b\u2076 \/\u2103<\/strong>), far superior to cast iron, but <strong>not zero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Example: For a 1000mm Jinan Blue plate, a 1\u2103 temperature change results in a length change of \u22484.5<del>6\u03bcm; a 5\u2103 temperature fluctuation can cause a drift of up to 20<\/del>30\u03bcm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Key point: <strong>It is not the average temperature, but the temperature gradient (one side of the plate hot, the other cold) that is more harmful<\/strong>. It causes bending deformation and a sharp deterioration in flatness, which is the most common form of accuracy drift.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advantages of granite: Slow heat conduction, delayed deformation after temperature changes, and short-term temperature fluctuations do not cause immediate deformation; Disadvantages: Once the overall temperature rises or falls, deformation will persist for a long time before stabilizing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Cast iron bases \/ machine tool castings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The expansion coefficient of cast iron is about <strong>11~13 \u00d710\u207b\u2076 \/\u2103<\/strong>, roughly twice that of granite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For the same 1-meter component, a 1\u2103 change results in an elongation of about 11\u03bcm; the warping caused by temperature gradients will be more pronounced than in granite.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) overall drift<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A CMM is not just a base, but also includes scale rulers, aluminum alloy beams, bearings, and air bearings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The expansion coefficient of aluminum alloy is very high (\u224823\u00d710\u207b\u2076\/\u2103), making the beam extremely sensitive to temperature;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scale rulers themselves also have temperature drift;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-uniform ambient temperature: For example, direct air conditioning, sunlight, or motor heat generation creates local hotspots \u2192 causing axis drift and deterioration of perpendicularity \/ straightness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two forms of drift<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Steady-state temperature drift<\/strong>: Uniform heating and cooling of the entire system, where dimensions change linearly according to the expansion coefficient, which can be corrected through temperature compensation (software compensation);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gradient drift<\/strong>: Inconsistent temperatures across the workpiece \/ plate \/ equipment parts cause bending and twisting, which <strong>is difficult to completely eliminate with software compensation and belongs to hard deformation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4.
