Standardized maintenance can preserve its accuracy and appearance for a long time. The following instructions are divided into five major modules: daily cleaning, usage specifications, storage and protection, troubleshooting, and periodic inspection, suitable for all scenarios including workshops, quality inspection rooms, and production lines.
I. Daily Cleaning (Must be done daily)
Dust and Debris Removal
Use dedicated lint-free cloths and soft brushes to clean iron filings, dust, and debris from the surface. The use of steel wire brushes, blades, and hard tools for scraping is prohibited to avoid scratching the polished surface.
Oil / Coolant Wiping
When the surface is contaminated with machine oil, cutting fluid, or grease, use a lint-free cloth dipped in a neutral dedicated cleaner or anhydrous ethanol (alcohol) to wipe gently, then wipe dry with a dry cloth. The use of gasoline, banana water, or strong alkaline/acidic solutions for cleaning is strictly prohibited, as they will corrode the surface gloss and material.
Water Stain Treatment
After wiping in a humid environment, be sure to wipe completely dry to avoid long-term water retention forming watermarks and scale.
Cleaning Frequency: A comprehensive cleaning once per shift / at the end of each day, and timely cleaning of scattered debris during operation.
II. Protection During Use (Core protection against accuracy damage)
Prohibit Impact, Heavy Pressure, and Dropping
Granite is highly brittle. It is strictly forbidden to drop workpieces or tools from a height onto the surface, and to push or hit the edges and corners with heavy objects (edges and corners are most prone to chipping).
Do not overload. Handle heavy workpieces gently to avoid strong single-point impacts.
Prohibit Direct Processing on the Surface
Grinding, drilling, hammering, bending, spot welding / welding, and other operations must not be performed directly on the surface. High temperatures and welding slag will burn the surface and destroy the flatness accuracy.
Workpiece Placement Requirements
It is recommended to place rough blanks on soft rubber pads before positioning them to avoid burrs and sharp edges scratching the polished surface. When moving workpieces, push and move them gently, and do not drag them forcibly.
Dial Indicator Base / Accessory Usage Specifications
Handle magnetic dial indicator bases and limit blocks gently when moving them, and do not slide metal bases on the surface.
III. Environmental and Storage Maintenance
Exigences environnementales
Preferably place in a dry, ventilated, and shaded area, away from machine tool coolant spray ports, water pipes, and acid/alkali workstations.
Avoid long-term direct sunlight and proximity to high-temperature equipment (furnaces, welding machines, ovens) to reduce drastic temperature changes.
Idle Protection
Short-term suspension (1~3 days): After cleaning, cover with a dust cloth / dust cover to prevent dust accumulation.
Long-term suspension (over a week): Thoroughly clean and wipe dry, cover the entire unit with a dust cover, and do not stack miscellaneous items around it to avoid compression.
Leveling and Placement
Maintain the leveling state of the support feet during use, and do not move or shift it arbitrarily. If transportation is required, four people should lift it steadily; single-sided lifting, prying, or dragging is prohibited.

IV. Regular Inspection and Maintenance (Weekly / Monthly)
Weekly Inspection
Check the surface for scratches, bumps, and chipped corners, ensure the base and stop blocks are intact; check the support feet for looseness or deformation, and promptly re-level the surface if any tilt is found.
Monthly Maintenance
oroughly clean the surface gaps and base corners; no oiling or waxing is required (granite should avoid oil accumulation), just keep the surface dry.
Accuracy Re-inspectionQuarterly / Semi-annually)
Use standard gauge blocks and height gauges to spot-check the surface accuracy. If data deviations occur, check for displacement or deformation under, and return to the factory for re-grinding and surface repair if necessary.
V. Emergency Handling of Common Problems
Minor Scratches: Shallow scratches that do not measurement can be used normally; for deep scratches or large-area scratches, it is recommended to return to the factory for precision grinding and repair.
Chipped Edges and Corners Small chips should be ground and chamfered to prevent further cracking; severe edge damage affecting the reference should be returned to the factory for repair.
Stubborn Oil Stains: repeatedly with alcohol; do not soak in strong solvents.
Surface Dampness and Condensation: Wipe dry immediately, increase ventilation, and move to a dry area.
VI. Taboos Summary (Memorize the Mnemonic)
No hammering, no knocking, no welding or grinding;
No dragging, no scratching, no strong acids;
Wipe, prevent dust, avoid high temperatures;
Handle with care for long-lasting accuracy.

Daily Maintenance and Care Methods for Granite Surface PlatesGranite has high hardness and good stability, but it is susceptible to severe impacts, strong acids and bases, and long-term accumulation of dirt.
